The dark thought, the shame, the malice:
meet them at the door, laughing, and invite them in.
Be grateful for whatever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

Even if they are a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

Friends, how about this year, we leave behind what was…

… and just start freshly creating the world we want?

I mean, we can.

What WAS is literally not real anymore.

NOW is what’s real.

So.

What new world can we create... now?

Wishing us our best year together yet!

I have faith we will start to make leaps and bounds, the more of us who commit to seeing this through to the world we all want to live in.

You in?

Because that will not only affect us. But it will deeply affect everyone else we're connected to... and everyone connected to them... and so on.

We continue this work in 2026.

Together.

We all have elements of them within us. We’ve all probably embodied them at one point or another.

And we’re all responsible for transforming ourselves to the point where acting in these ways is not even slightly possible for us.
December 31, 2025 at 6:50 PM
Each of us needs to take responsibility for these revelations. Because none of us are free from that responsibility.

We all own it.

Even though some of us may be acting out these qualities more than others, we all have the potential to.
December 31, 2025 at 6:50 PM
We are all inescapably connected to each other.

There is no “us” and “them” here.

There is only us.
December 31, 2025 at 6:50 PM
We can’t think of any of these things as THOSE people, over there. Instead, we must take our pointer finger, the one we’re using to point “over there”… and turn it back around… to land on our own solar plexus.

We are ONE human family, on this blue boat home.

Friends, the struggles we’re having right now? Coming to terms with our selfishness… our hate… our bigotry… our violence… our materialism… our worship of money and power?

These have been needed.

For a long time.

I used the word “our” above very intentionally, FYI.

More and more is becoming known, seen, understood.

All of us are realizing how essential integrity is — to be one, integrated person, no matter where we are.

Kind.

Loving.

Generous.

Humble.
December 31, 2025 at 6:50 PM
I’m talking about the actual root meaning of the word: uncovering.

Revelation.

Realities that have been hidden for generations… are being revealed. Things people used to do in the dark, in secret, are being brought out into the light. Chances to hide are getting fewer and fewer.

The Quiet Is Here
As the Winter Solstice approaches, and the light wanes, and the darkness increases, this is our time to rest and be quiet... just like the natural world around us

This time brings the quiet.

Growth slows. Plants and animals sleep. Activity slows to a crawl — especially on the darkest and coldest days.

And as a part of nature, we are meant to do the same.

As we are a part of nature, we know this for sure:

this is where our growth can start.
December 21, 2025 at 10:39 PM
We move and grow within cyclical rhythms, just like all of these other parts of the natural world.

And this rhythm?

The one that brings darkness?

The one that shifts the planet so that those of us in the North are tilting away from the sun as far as we will ever be?
December 21, 2025 at 10:39 PM
The atoms that patchwork together our bodies are built from the same substance that fills the towering trees looming over us… and animates the tiny critters around us… and powers the sparkling stars in the sky.
December 21, 2025 at 10:39 PM
We humans are nature.

We don’t just appreciate nature. Or spend time in nature. We ARE nature. Literally.

All of the many plants I love to grow, as a gardener, will never ever become what they're meant to be unless they also have a warm, damp place to first turn from a seed to a sprout... and then to reach for the air and the light.
December 21, 2025 at 10:39 PM
And I'm thinking about how nothing grows...

... but by the presence of darkness.

Each of us humans started as a collection of cells growing in a damp, dark place (both archetypically yin and also literally in a female body).
December 21, 2025 at 10:39 PM
I'm thinking about how this tendency seems related to the rampant anti-Blackness around us.

I'm thinking about how darkness is related to yin, or feminine energy — something that is also marginalized in the culture that dominates our world.
