I'm autistic and have a bunch of other diagnoses. I like to info dump a lot of facts about a lot of things, including my experiences with my diagnoses. Welcome to my virtual brain feed.

Orion, possibly my favourite night sky thing to look at. This was shot in the Scottish Highlands and you can see a faint Barnards loop as I shot this with an astro modified Canon 6D.

I know they make fun of us for being easily triggered, but honestly, I am triggered whenever I see a Cybertruck.

It says a lot about our imagining of the past that in the video game Oregon Trail, you can die of cholera or typhoid or dysentery but not of consumption, even though consumption was the most common cause of death in 19th century America, especially among westward travelers. In this essay I will

Things I have learned since starting to unmask my autism so much that autism is now the default setting.
1. I really need to know why for everything. Everything.
2. Neurodivergent kids flock to me wherever I go.
3. 9/10 people shrug it off when I let them know. 1/10 tell me I'm brave...

NASA used to be in charge of exploring the oceans. The shift to solely space exploration was done because space became more profitable than the ocean to the US government. Hence why we have a much clearer map of the surface of Mars than the ocean floor. #infodump

Cats track their humans through the house via sound using a mini layout of the house they have in their heads. It's part of why they immediately know when you're awake or done with work. It's also why they'll meow randomly like they're alone. Because you're home but they don't know where. #infodump

Info dump of the night. Scopolamine, which is such a powerful drug the effects can be captured by breathing it in from the trees that produce it, is also known as devil's breath. Why? If administered with ill intentions, the person who received the dose is now under control of the doser for ~24hrs.

And now the Cybertruck joins the fam... While Elon sits in his high tower waiting for his prince and peasants to take care of it.

Humboldt squids use bioluminescent organs in their muscles and their ability to change the color and patterns of their skin to communicate with other squids. As a social species, they have been observed to have distinct squid friend groups and possibly squid frenemies and rivals. Ocean's crazy.

Same. 31 when I realized it, and suddenly life made so much sense.
Not knowing you have autism until you are 31 years old is like growing up in a flamboyance of flamingos, thinking you were a flamingo who was just really bad at flamingo stuff
Then finding out that you were just 6 parrots in a poorly fitting flamingo costume

Housecat fact! Cats are crepuscular by nature (most active at dusk and dawn), so their daytime vision is actually worse when compared to an average human's. This is also very much why you get woken up around 4:30 or 5, etc., because the Sun is starting to come up enough that they're now active.

Neurotypical people don't understand that sometimes when I say "ow" to something that didn't send a pain signal to my brain, it's because something in the sensory realm of things sent one to my autism, which responded accordingly while trying to express it to a neurotypical person.

The world is so much less overstimulating at 4:30 AM. That probably explains why I love the night so much. I hate not getting enough sleep for the things I need to do in the day world though.

Fact of the night (and I guess we're apparently dumping the last good shark fact I have day one): it's really hard to study shark habits and especially those of hammerhead sharks. However, female hammerhead sharks have been seen swarming in a specific area off the coast of Africa during full moons.

Cheese and bacon are actually addictive. And like cocaine, bacon changes your brain chemistry from the very first time you try it.

So sharks apparently don't have a likened diagnosis to autism but apparently can show physical signs of stress and reactivity in social situations. So, shark social anxiety? But also they don't get cancer and reproduce four different ways and Great Whites can't survive in captivity.

I am here primarily to primarily info dump facts/provide insight on being neurodivergent with 10,001 co-occurring diagnoses. Come along, I guess?
