@talkinghenry.bsky.social Love the podcast! The reference to solar power perked my attention. To defend solar… yes, solar is currently about 4% of utility power, but it is 47% of all the power generation in development in the US. Utility scale solar is super cheap so it’s not reliant on subsidies.

Starting in September 2024, and continuing for the foreseeable future, battery storage will be the biggest form of energy capacity in the ERCOT pipeline.

New ERCOT numbers are out. Pipeline for new solar and battery projects capacity is over 300,000 MW. Total pipeline for gas is less than 45,000 MW.
