New on website: 2nd edition of popular practical manual teaching the art of drawing by famous Dutch painter Gerard de Lairesse (1640-1711). It also includes a treatise by Johann Andreas Segner, teaching how to construct lamps that are economic & efficient & spare the artist's eye-sight.

Our #bookoftheday is Giuseppe Ceredi's "Tre discorsi sopra il modo d'alzar acque da'luoghi bassi". Published in 1567, it's not only 1 of the earliest works on hydraulic engineering, it must also be considered as 1 of the most important publications in the history of the subject. In musical binding.

Our book of the day is a wonderful treasure trove of 16th- and 17th-century European knowledge of the world: the most extensive edition of Sebastian Münster's monumental "Cosmographia" (Basel, 1628), with almost 1600 illustrations, maps and views.

Our #bookoftheday is a beautifully hand-colored copy, with liberal use of gold, of 1st edition (1765) of verse rendition by Willem Sels of the story of King Solomon. Splendidly bound by so-called "Three Acorn Bindery" in Amsterdam. All 12 plates beautifully drawn and engraved by Reinier Vinkeles.
