Your daily reminder that 16,000 Republicans won their races in the 2024 election without an opponent and the Democratic Party spent $100,000 rebuilding the set to a podcast.

In a country of 330 Million people, if we can't even find 30,000 to fill in the odd elected administrative roll, then in what meaningful sense do we exist? This should be done as a matter of course in-between far bigger and more ambitious campaigns, and at this point it feels impossible.

16,000 Republicans won their Races in 2024 without an opponent. 4,000 Democrats did the same. 10,000 positions went completely empty, with no one running for them at all. Most of those positions only need residency and $50-$300 to get on the ballot, it'd be very achievable to reach for them.

We're gonna hear endless nonsense from Gavin Newsome for the next 3 years. We're gonna talk about how it's early enough that we could select an actually good candidate to run against the Republicans instead. And we're not gonna put any effort into finding/making said good candidate.

16,000 Republicans won their elections by default because the Democratic Party couldn't be assed to run candidates against them. The Voters didn't do that.

I legit think the left could take half the country if they made a concerted effort to just run candidates. 20,000 people won their elections in 2024 without an opponent. Give people an option and you'll win a lot just by merit of BEING an option.

in 2024, 20,000 people won their elections without an opponent. 4,000 were dems and 16,000 were republicans. People are so pissed at the admin that the opposition likely COULD win just by showing up, but even that is asking too much. They're expecting a blue wave without any water.

Sure, it would be if those assholes had an opponent to support. I've never had a ballot that they didn't win over half of by default.

Used to just take my meds before bed, straight from the bottle. Eventually got so many that opening every bottle individually every night was too annoying, and once I started need morning meds too it became untenable, so I got a planner. I STILL sometimes mess it up because my brain is pudding.

Even that's giving people too much credit. I've gotten pushback for saying that Dems should at least put up candidates against Republicans so they don't just take power without a fight.

They dream of nothing more than to cheer their team and boo the opposition.

Seems profoundly strange and impersonal, to constantly look down at notes of things to talk about, like I'm pretending to be human.

Thank god looking down at your phone constantly has been normalized. People will just think I'm distracting myself from talking to them; much less embarrassing.

Again I say: how fucking interesting that remote work technology is bad and not worth adopting despite all research pointing to productivity gains, but genAI which offers NOTHING is so important to adopt and force on people who have no use for it despite all the horrible things genAI does

To all the "They deserve it for voting Republicans" jackasses:

Tell the Democrats to RUN FUCKING CANDIDATES! 16,000 Republicans won their races in 2024 WITHOUT AN OPPONENT! 50 Republicans got into the Kentucky state senate unopposed! The party completely abandoned us and half the goddamn country!
December 7, 2025 at 8:26 AM
And some still do! We've got a Dem governor who is roundly popular here! If the party bothered to give even a half-hearted try, they'd be a shoe-in to take control of the country come the midterms by riding on the current wave of resentment.

But we're not getting a blue wave without any water.

Do you have any idea how demoralizing it is to get into the voting booth on election day, ready to vote for your team, only to see nothing but the other team scoring points against no-one?

You'd have to be nuts to do that to yourself for years without taking the hint.

Whenever anyone from a red state asks for help from the Democratic party to run for office, they get told to piss off because they'd rather save resources for "winnable" seats in 'purple states'.
