It's interesting to try to apply for nonprofit civic organizations and be told I don't have the experience when I've been working in the library for nearly 10 years. It's true it would be a little bit of a pivot but I gotta wonder if this is part of what's behind that idea.

Not recording is the biggest problem in my eyes. But I guess also, why not say "hey we're going to discuss this topic; you may find it better for your work place mental and relational health to not attend" and give them the option?

It shouldn't matter because lives are lives, but the villages that got swept away probably didn't vote for Trump. I don't know these villages specifically very well but Alaska isn't nearly as red as the voter suppression and big cities full of colonizers make it look.
