(1/4) I suddenly am getting an increase in "Followers", something I did not expect when I joined here! So maybe an introduction is appropriate. I am a native Texan who has lived in Europe for longer than I lived in the US. Therefore I post and comment on issues affecting both locations.

Jack Smith will appear before the House Judiciary Committee in a closed interview. Is there anything stopping him from holding a press conference afterwards, giving his answers publicly, letting the questions that were asked being inferred? What might hold him to secrecy about his statements?

There IS a way to get corporate money out of politics, without waiting for the (opposite of) Supreme Court to change its ruling or for a new Constitutional amendment. Robert Reich outlines it here. Something we should pressure our state legislatures on! robertreich.substack.com/p/how-to-get...

My husband planned to retire in December. I'm not eligible for Medicare until Aug so I planned to get an Obamacare policy. I found one in Oct that was $800/month. Now it's $2000/month.
So now my husband isn't going to retire. I hate Trump & GOP so much.

Ending the shutdown without ANY compromise means the Republicans can continue their crimes without repercussions and blame it all on the Democrats. Call the Senate Democrats who caved to the the Republicans and let them know how you feel.

The average family receiving SNAP benefits is only receiving $80 per week.
The daily meal allowance ("Members' Representational Allowance" or MRA) for Congress Representatives is capped at $79 per DAY. This is a voluntary claim. I wonder how many Republicans are claiming it during the shutdown?
