The most recent High Risk in November happened on the 17th, in 2013. This even produced 2 EF4s in IL, the strongest of the two (at 190 mph) hit very close to Peoria, IL. Pretty close to my hometown.
I'll never forget the way the sky looked that day, nor the 4 inch hail.

The most recent time there was TWO separate High Risks in one day was March 31, 2023. The last time this happened was the initial Outlook for April 14, 2012.
My home region is pretty close to that High Risk in Illinois. It was a watchful day.

The 2011 Super Outbreak produced the (sofar and hopefully only) PDS Tornado Watch with a >95% probability for all risks it had.
This watch, shown below was issued on the 27th, the day that all FOUR EF5s happened from this event.

***: The PDS Tor Warning AND Tornado Emergency are EXPERIMENTAL still. These are typically reserved for confirmed, long tracked tor's that have continued being strong on radar for a long period of time.
Please note: A Tornado Warning polygon will have the center of rotation at its middle line.

PDS = Particularly Dangerous Situation.
It's wording is to help emphasize the higher potential for severe weather.

The highest tornado probability ever issued by the NWS was a 60%, on April 7, 2008. Never been beat and hopefully remains that way.
It's also one of only sofar 3 instances of the NWSSPC to issue a Day 2 High Risk.
This week will be themed around watches & warnings!

FIRST EF5 IN 12 YEARS
A tornado from June 20, 2025 has been upgraded to EF5.
Absolutely insane.
