I went to a show a few nights back where I knew both the support acts but not the headline.
Well done to The Last Martyr and Aurateque who supported Future Static. Epic

What bands under 10000 monthly on Spotify or under 1000 subs on YouTube are you looking forward to seeing live this year?
For me, I'd love to see two Aussie bands, The Last Martyr and Kodiak Empire
Hugely underrated bands who are working really hard to have gotten where they are Right now.

Real new music discovery is NOT chucking a pre generated playlist on and letting algorithms throw songs at you while you're busy doing something else.

When you hear something you like. Do you get up and find out more about the artists or band?

We did a live studio recording today at Rogue Ascent Studio with Abby May. An incredibly talented singer songwriter from the South Coast NSW Australia.
Look out for this artist.
Also credit to EsperXD for doing a fantastic job in the little home studio producing the videography for the day.

Be in charge of YOUR music discovery journey.
What I mean is be active about it. If you like something you hear. Do something about it. At minimum add that tune to a playlist you control.
We can't keep relying on the algorithm to show us songs we'll forget seconds after the next song is played.

Our lives are like a painting, we start with nothing. Sometimes it starts vibrantly for those fortunate, for others it start with a darker pallette outside our control. But no matter what has happened before. WE HAVE the power to paint over the past with new and vibrant colours WE choose.

I genuinely believe that, despite our past experiences and circumstances that got us to where we are now, we have the power to create the future we want for ourselves. It may not be easy, and requires change in how you think.
So I wrote a song about that and it'll be out on the 29th of Feb!

I don't like getting involved in the music competitions. Spectator, adjudicator or voter. Artists cannot possibly remain unique if they're pandering to popular vote. Yes, artists and bands should find trusted sources to ensure the best quality music they can produce. Should I correct my perspective?

The tendency is for people to shape their lives around what's thrown at them from fashion trends to musical tastes. The latter, labels and major radio stations make bank on this aspect.
Respect to anyone who willingly chooses to fill their lives with music from independent artists and bands.

I realised very quickly this season, how devalued small indie bands/artists are. As someone actively trying to create change, my own extended family simply would not listen to any of the music suggestions I made for this holiday season. Artists, Stay strong, release music, I am for you.

There's beauty in the imperfect.
I say this as an observation. That to over produce music can make it sound so perfect it begins to feel mundane and nothing special.
This is just another reason to love indie artists over the mainstream labelled artists.

As an indie artist and one that supports small time artists that are starting our or haven't found a break yet. Spotify can eat a bag of dicks. I've been playing with TIDAL and YouTube Premium and I gotta say. I don't miss my Spotify subscription. Not to mention laying ⅕ staff before Christmas...

Early goldminers sifted for hours to find a spec of gold.
If you've ever wondered "why isn't there any good music anymore?"
The problem IS NOT that there isn't any good music, the problem is you're not looking for it in the right places.
Take 15 minutes. Start sifting for your gold.

Listen if you want to be heard. We're so used to trying to talk and be heard it turns people off. If we aim to listen first and hear others, when it's our turn to talk, our message will be heard with greater respect.

There's something special about discovering underground, independent small time artists and bands. Whether trivial or full of deep substance, their message is always raw, real and from the heart.
