Darcy; You are dancing with the only handsome girl in the room.

Bingley: But there is one of her sisters sitting down just behind you, who is very pretty, and I dare say very agreeable. Do let me ask my partner to introduce you.

And some honorable mentions of series where I've only read the first book but I'm trying to get my hands on the next asap. Nilima Rao's next book comes out next year; Akunin's books are a bit hard to track down; I hope to get the next Claudia Gray JA mystery today tho and I'll be cracking in asap

The Thursday Murder Club series by Richard Osman. It's as good as everyone says. The characters are all amazing and the plots resolve in unexpected ways, which is really refreshing when you read a lot of mysteries. Pretty excited about the film too!

The Captain Jim and Lady Diana series by Nev March. NORTH AND SOUTH MUTUALS, GET INTO THIS SERIES. This follows a retired army captain and the daughter of a rich Parsi family and they quite literally fight crime. and the second book takes place the Chicago Worlds Fair. Immaculate series!!!

I got into my Star Wars bag this year and have fallen deeply in love with Thrawn. He's just so cool and a little sassy and I love him deeply. Alliances especially hits hard as an Anakin enjoyer. The audiobooks are a real treat; Marc Thompson is an amazing narrator and theres classic SW sound effects

The Evander Mills series by Lev AC Rosen. This follows a gay former cop turned private detective in 1940s San Francisco. Rosen really brings a lot of queer midcentury history to life with this series. Reminiscent of hardboiled California noir. Be sure to check content warnings for these as well

The Criminal Intentions series by Cole McCade. This is a VERY slowburn romantic suspense series that's structured like a police procedural TV show. it's quite dark so be aware of content warnings (the author is quite thorough and thoughtful with them) but this is great especially if you're ACAB

The Detective Gallileo series by Keigo Higashino. This follows a physics professor who solves crimes with the Tokyo PD. The plots of this series are great but the characters and their growing relationships are even better. Higashino has become a favorite author of mine this year 😍
