I'm trying to model repair (in people) after conditions of high threat. So what you're saying would map like, recovery is not reversal, but the slow management of history’s influence on present response. That makes sense.

moonl. In physical or control systems with hysteresis or path dependence, what types of interventions are known to reduce or manage it — even if they don’t fully reverse it?

A lot of discourse treats political disagreement as a personal failure to “transcend” or self-purify.
The post takes a different angle: when regulation is externalized because internal regulation is metabolically unavailable, exhortation doesn’t work — conditions do.
