I’ve seen a recurring question in family travel groups about whether Americans might face hostility when travelling in Europe. As a European living in the UK, I can reassure people that in everyday situations, most Europeans don’t attach individual travellers to their country’s politics. (cont.)

Cycling through Tokyo with kids felt very different to what I expected.

After city trips, our kids rarely talk about the big attractions.
They often remember a strange doorbell, a cute dog, a wrong turn that felt interesting.
