Been having a terrific time at #BalloonFiesta in #Abq. So glad my crew was there to catch me during this high speed landing! That was an intense situation that worked out safely thanks to all involved. Amazing!

Thank you Layne! Having a great Fiesta :) I designed the Infinitude balloon, and it was manufactured by Kubicek Balloons. Glad you appreciate the Flying Fractals. I want to see a whole flock of them!

People people, a minimum of fact checking please - this is a gas balloon, not a hot air balloon. No fire, no heat. No pilot. And no color. Boring! Here is what hot air balloons can look like :)

Thanks Speck! I actually call this one “Infinitude” - a contraction of Infinite Gratitude :)

The world could use a little more peace, so I decided to fly something a little special today at #BalloonFiesta. I call this tapestry the PeaceFlower.

He’s smart enough to know how to get as far as he’s gotten. He knows what appeals to his base, that’s what sounds so embarrassingly stupid; we don’t hear the private mobster conversations with the complicit powerful
fractalic.bsky.social
He’s not stupid, he’s playing a role very effectively. And the people who are complicit know what they’re doing, and are frankly evil

And I’m so excited that this is a core value of @gandersocial.bsky.social - I think it will resonate hard. I’m usually not in favor of nationalistic urges, but in this instance it makes all kinds of sense. Social media that serves Canadians’ interests, not US Big Tech’s

Yeah the lightning tonight in Abq was NUTS!

I’ve had the huge honor of meeting Sir Tim - inventor of the WWW - a number of times and have the greatest respect for him. Here he shares a beautiful vision for putting people in charge of the governance of AI so it serves society’s interests, not big tech’s. www.theguardian.com/technology/2...

Such a beautiful ecosystem. I just read the amazing book Finding the Mother Tree by @drsuzannesimard.bsky.social and all I can think about is how trees are so connected with the creatures around them.

An old rainforest oak like this, thick with epiphytes and ivy, is more than just a tree.

It's a mini ecosystem. 🌏

Proposal: Save 30% of land and sea for nature by 2030. Strong support by people around the world. That our economic and political system will resist this vigorously only means… they need to change!

I so appreciate the little things I see in other countries that show they value the little people. Free public toilets in parks in Canada; upper and lower handrails on stairways in Norway; months and months of parental leave almost everywhere…

I can never be 100% sure that Sluggo will make an appearance in a drawing… but if there’s a grill, he’s more likely to turnip.

Loving the book I’m in the middle of, “Finding the Mother Tree” by @drsuzannesimard.bsky.social Continually awestruck by the complexity of trees and forests, and now to learn about this amazing microbiome of trees…

Nothing - even you - is alone in this vastly interconnected web.

Like humans, every tree has its own microbiome — an invisible ecosystem that is only beginning to be understood.

Yup. Super disappointed!

Yes! We need the joyful courage of musicians and artists speaking truth now more than ever. That’s why I was so sad the Michael Franti show I had tickets for tonight was canceled :(

It’s been a long time since I’ve made any tiedyes, and I’ve been having fun getting back into the art form! Here are a couple of fractal inspired tapestries that I’ve made and given to friends as backdrops for their bands. Cool!

This thread holds the wisdom we need to remember in these difficult times. Dr Sawin expresses it better than I can and uses the structure of fractals beautifully to illustrate how we can shift the system into one of coherence, care, and beauty.

It's easy to feel small right now.
When I do, I picture my favorite fractal (OK I don't have a favorite, I love them all, but you get the point).
I picture a fern, a tree, a capillary bed, a river delta, neurons branching.

The developer isn’t interested in data or monetization, they just want to help people avoid trouble. Frankly I’m surprised Apple approved it, and it’ll be interesting to see if / when they’ll cave in and ban it.

So many interesting technological, social, legal and political issues with this app. It allows people to anonymously report sightings of ICE agents so people can avoid those areas. It’s done with complete privacy, no user accounts, and no data tracking at all. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...
