This would make a hilarious scene in a sitcom. In truth, this is not an actor portraying someone's embarrassing, uneducated uncle while the cast rolls their eyes at his stupidity. This comes from the oval office, from the leader of the free world.

In 1973, during President Richard Nixon's inauguration, flags flew at half mast due to former President Henry Truman passing away less than 30 days before. This tradition was disregarded by Trump because he claimed the Democrats would be "giddy" about the flags being half mast at his inauguration.
