I think its because I was a slower reader. I was a brilliant reader, but my undiagnosed neuro-spicy led me to read the same page about 4 times before I could move on to the next 🤦♀️ she mistook that as "difficulty reading".

I think its ridiculous. I never tell my pupils that books are too hard for them - only that if they find it tricky, come back to it later or ask for help in reading it. They should be allowed to access whatever books they can. (Relative to age of course).
