This is where britain discovers, it does not have the power to use its own nuclear missiles because they belong to america. To hunt a billion on a weapon, we don't control. That money could have been spent on relieving poverty.

Scotland has too many useless counsellors who do nothing but bemoan their inability to do anything useful. When was the last time we measured exactly how they contribute to the community? Most of them are wasters.

That should be retracted immediately

Perfect, the next US presidential candidates have returned in time to watch their country burn.

We need to block this from happening.

A capitalist democracy is a scarred democracy. Capitalism, people's greed for more money than they need, is at the very heart of all human suffering. I despise wealthy people. They are parasitic cancers on the body of humanity. Show me a rich person, and I'll show you a parasite.

And Labour has turned their backs on child poverty. What is the point of Labour?
The UK is among the worst nations in Europe for child poverty.

In the UK, 11% of 15-year-olds reported they had skipped a meal in 2022 because there wasn't enough money to buy food.

In the Netherlands and Finland, this number was 3%.

Trump must be stopped and blocked from the UK.
Beyond belief. Is this really the man we’re going to fawn over with a State Visit? It’s time for our PM to pick a side
Jesus, Trump and JD Vance playing bad cop-bad cop with Zelensky is stomach churning here.

The USA spent 3.4% gdp on military. But us military spending is as much about retail than defence. Strip the retail side out and it's probably spending as much as uk or even less.
Spending on military is not all defensive. Has anyone thought of this.?
Zelenskyy knows what it is to fight for something bigger than yourself. Trump does not.

One good thing to come out of the American shitshow is the destruction of Stonewall and their child harming policies.

About time we binned the monarchy and the church.

Its Trumpian.
Utterly shameful - a sickening betrayal of some of the poorest people. And counterproductive too - as if global security isn’t also dependent on efforts to tackle the climate crisis, global poverty, inequality, and humanitarian needs.

Tax loopholes for the rich.

A bloated military budget.

Lucrative contracts and subsidies to private corporations.

These are all huge sources of federal waste and fraud, but don't expect Elon Musk and DOGE to take aim at any of them.

1. We cannot now rule out the possibility of systemic collapse in the United States. If Trump and Musk paralyse the federal government, this could trigger social, financial and industrial failures. Neither Trump nor his team know how to respond to such failures, which could snowball and converge. 🧵

This is a very good leading article about class and inequality. I would just add that we need not be bound by our backgrounds.
My parents were upper-middle class (quite posh). But I want a far more equal society, where the rich have less and the poor have more.

Hi yal! I’m new so here’s a quick bio: I’m 25y/o based in nyc and just recently quit my soul-crushing corporate job to try to turn writing into a career (ik, delusional). I write thrillers and am a sucker for tragic endings. I also love dogs. Please say hi.
