And as to the argument that legitimate programs that benefit Americans are being cut, I am willing to wait to see how the State Department reorganizes things before drawing any conclusions...

I am guessing you are from across the Pond, but I'm not sure how anyone could argue for continuing to fund foreign DEI programs...

Ultimately, yes, as deficits this high have a real risk of resulting in increased interest rates and a severe devaluation of what is currently the world's reserve currency, something that brings increased prosperity to the nation that issues it.

I believe this is a step, albeit a very small one, in finding ways to cut overspending that is in the interest of all Americans...

DOGE rolls up to the the executive branch and so does USAID. The POTUS may not have the right to abolish it outright, but he certainly has the legal authority to audit it and freeze wasteful spending.
And yes, I voted for an audit to ensure our taxdollars are being spent wisely...
