Remembering a good day... a small bento lunch and casual paint doodling at a local park... under cherry trees in full bloom. This is several years ago.

4 film reflections of the decades of my mostly misunderstood life mirrored in the characters Watts (self sacrifice), Janet Livermore (quirkiness), Frances McEllany (thwarted dreams), Renée Michel (isolated secret scholar/artist).

What are 4 films that represent your own life journey? Please comment

Found another small stash of dried acrylic paint blobs on a back shelf (the residual amounts that often collect at the bottom of bottles). Watching 'High and Low' (1963) while chipping them up into small pieces for recycled art.

The b-day prezzie I got for myself. I thoroughly enjoyed them and recommend for folk who enjoy art with little gaps here and there allowing extra brain chews.

Aww! A sweet friend gave me an early b-day prezzie yesterday on our movie day (I share parts of my extensive film collection with her). A huggable cuddly that smells of lavender and can be warmed in the microwave! Thinking about the name now...

The passing of years certainly changes the perspectives of people watching the same film. It seems that a lot of young folk who watch this movie see 'Naruto' in the scene with the running children. Whereas folks like myself see Phan Thị Kim Phúc.

I don't have much myself, but I do try to support my fellow creators in small ways when I can. So I picked up a copy of this book by @skelton-porter.bsky.social . Just finished it and it is a fun addition to my little Samhain collection. As always, ghost doggos and kittahs are the best part!

I collect tarot decks because I love to compare the ways different artists interpret the same symbolism. The Queen of Swords has been my personal avatar since I first saw the Hanson-Roberts deck in my 20s (still my favorite). I wonder if you would share an image of your deck's Queen of Swords?

'The Stepford Wives' (1975) is still terrifying. Trust is gone. All that matters are their looks and obedience. And at the end, each time I watch it, I always wonder... What about all of those Stepford daughters... What is the future for them?

Brought these home today from the studio space I'm losing. These are handpainted door hangers I created to let my sister's fam know who was in the space each day. "Away/Creating" let them know if I was there or not. "Guests" let them know if someone else was visiting me in the space. (1 of 2 posts)

A cute little thingy I was given as an early b-day prezzie... so tiny! What a delightful Pocket of Joy after a rather unfortunate day!

Regular scissors have really been tearing up my hands while I work my way though decades of cast off material from previous art. So I invested in these squeeze manipulated shears. Much better, though hand muscles are still extremely sore. Still, better than the addition of raw skin in tender spots.

'Divinity Raven' (2015)

Just another Spooky Season doodle painting from the past. Not meant to be anything more than playing with some paint and loose scribbling plus random ideas about symbolic imagery. I find it relaxing to create sometimes without worrying so much about the outcome...

Bird Mistress (2005)

In the 2000s I doodled a lot of characters that I considered to be part of my Dark Whimsy Series. Money was tight, so I often doodled them on fronts & backs of paper. For a short period pre-2006 I had my own copy of Photoshop & tried teaching myself to use it. (Post 1 of 2)

Ideas doodled down that didn't always go anywhere further, though sometimes bits and details pop up in later work. Sometimes just practicing with no expectation. (post 2 of 2)

Here are eight terribly old images (in two posts) from a few early sketchbooks and unfinished WIPs, most likely ranging between 1990 and 1995. Some really damaged by time and elements. (post 1 of 2)

The stopping place on my little Samhain game when the Cosmic Joke that is often my life decided it was time for me to receive another solid thumping. I've pulled out the old box with the unfinished pieces, but will have to put some effort in trying to match colors again.

Broomstick (2001)
A small acrylic on paper piece that I did for a very early collab with about 50 other artists way back in the dark ages of the internet. Might be called 50x50 or something similar. One of the earliest Dark Whimsy Series characters I created. She fits the vibe for this month too.

I'm 10 minutes into the 2014 film 'Exists'... I already hate all the human characters and don't care what happens to them. I'm a completionist, so I'll finish it. Hoping now for just some interesting special effects of the creature.

'Insect Angel' (rough guess is around 2012)

Found this and a stash of other older art recently. I didn't write the year that I created this down anywhere, but my best guess would be around the same time that I drew 'Rickety' and 'Night Bride' (so that would be in 2012).

Best Friends (2016)

Besties hanging out on top of a hill having a deep discussion about life.
