One practical reason, aside from all the geopolitical ones, is that we need to solve the problem of transmitting the power from the point of generation to the point of use. AFAIK that's still tricky, but I'd be happy to be corrected

The DOGE language is unnecessary but I'm quite pleased they're getting £ back from the PPE companies that took the £ and failed to deliver

They started from a dreadfully low place. Now, arguably, they are in a good place and the triple lock could be relaxed slightly. But remember, low income pensioners cannot do much to improve their lot.

Sort of. I was thinking that if Joe Bloggs was supplying the power (from his domestic supply) & only his household could use it then he'd want access outside his house. I guess I'm not clear who'd be powering these pavement chargers - publicly available power or private domestic supply
