Awkward history lover who loves drunken book shopping, and naps. Cave Gremlin and data nerd.
Very strong Sam Smith vibes, who also has sublime style.

Oh for sure - couple of days and I’ll be this happy-looking goosey fella hitching a lift on this other fella

Had a small procedure on Saturday, and I’m thrilled that it’s done and dusted, but also I do feel like this snake that has been trampled by a deer.

I mean, you’ve answered your own question there.

@oldenoughtosay.com did you find the sandwich reviewer?

Svensk höst är så vacker. Makes me want to be there 🇸🇪

That said though, England was looking lovely earlier too 🍁

Horrible week of adulting so happy it’s ended rather well:

❤️ Lovely/helpful/reassuring meeting with teacher

💜 Accidental date night in a fab little greasy spoon, while kiddo was at dance

💚 Skin care with the kiddo while watching Kpop Demon Hunters (daddy is watching grown up tv downstairs)

I had a look at this one, in a book shop a few years back. I read the whole thing and was cackling uncontrollably so I bought it. I mean, it lives in my daughter’s collection, but we all know I bought it for me.

FOLKS!! Each week the kiddo (year 5) has to respond to a question from the teacher on Padlet, and this week was about the best book covers. I am CACKLING and immensely proud.

9yo has homework to think of what question she most wants to ask a character from a book. Having seen her question I said I might be able to find out for her if @louiestowell.bsky.social is online and has time to reply! #kidlit #homework

I’m struggling with fun but it’s my own drama so... evicted in May bc landlord was selling (old couple, I get it), but found out on Sunday the landlord isn’t selling and just flipped it for higher rent. Illegal I think?

Upside, new location is heaven and kid loves yelling ‘I am the wickerman’

Hey @roystonmuseum.bsky.social, I have a professional question for you (or anyone who can help):

This has been in storage for 10 years, do you have any suggestions for how to dust it? Is there a particular kind of brush I can use? I’m assuming that anything with fibres will get stuck in it
September 3, 2025 at 6:13 PM
It’s not massively old (late 19thC) but we love it. The farmer we rent from owns the field out front so I took some wheat post-harvest to do a bit of crafting to appease the spirits. You are always welcome!

costume for world book day, general fancy dress, and even a non-uniform day.

Rather than being amazed by and obsessed with the Romans, as I was as a kid, she sees them as ‘urgh, patriarchy’, but concedes they were militarily effective.

Never too early for a Sheela-na-gig if you’re visiting @roystoncave.bsky.social, they’ve a beautiful one alongside some other pagan carvings, amongst the mostly Christian carvings. But kids usually prefer the gruesome martyrs’ deaths, or the potential for Batman appearing

Said to the Rat that we should take some photos on the giant weetabix opposite the house. She jumped up and yelled

I AM THE WICKERMAN

A couple of months ago we were given notice and so moved in a hurry, and though it was an intense nightmare, crippling financially and physically - sometimes I have to pinch myself because the views from our weird and wonky cottage are beautiful. And then a spitfire flies over us.

Thank you to @roystonmuseum.bsky.social for a wonderful day - I’m only sorry that people can be so awful
