I was Game Night Staff for the San Jose Sharks in 96-97. We had an intermission game where on-ice contestants w/ shopping carts tried to catch paratrooper army men as we ran back & forth across the rafters, throwing them over the side. Scary! But also fun (and popular!).

Not to be a party-pooper, but the NFL will never do this. Why? Because extra playing surface would take away field level seats/suites in many stadiums.
