How is "orientation" not intrinsically derived by the character of one's desire? And again, if you hold that one's "orientation" defines "who I am," and, as a consequence, moral authority, how can one not be profoundly offended by the Gospel of Jesus Christ?

If I thought that we are ontologically defined by our desires, I could not be a Christian. Indeed, I would find Christ's preaching deeply offensive. If I thought that we are ontologically defined by our desires, I would not follow Jesus Christ, but Ayn Rand and be an Objectivist.
