The only thing keeping the sales up is BIK which is a very attractive benefit. Private sales are dismal and without them the EV market will have a low sales ceiling. I have seen a few dealers saying about 12% is the natural figure.

One look at Germany shows you the true picture, cut back incentives the EV market collapses. The UK Ev market will collapse this year as no private buyers are interested in them.

They are being disingenuous on this claim and no one is even questioning it. Electricity is only 20% of the UK's energy needs, the other 80% is mainly gas powered. When he talks about 95% its only Electricity.

By the time we have had this conversation 45 pensioners have died of the cold based on 2021 figures (45/day). Now the winter fuel allowance has been cut even the government estimate this will double. So lets say your plan would work, surely it should be in place before making the cuts ?

Ok then install heat pumps in the pensioners houses, small problem, the government ain't offering to do this. I do get where you are coming from but you are forgetting these are very vulnerable/frail people who do not like change. Would it not be easier to just lower the limit where WFA kicks in.

If that was the case why not just give them the £300 a year. Your solution would cast 10 times that amount.

A battery capable of running/reducing the electrical system load.
Solar panels large enough to deal with low winter sun to charge the battery or it would be pointless.
A heat pump.
Would it not be easier to give then the £300 a year

Ok so we are still left with the problem, who is going to pay for the Gas and the additional equipment ? Lets be generous and say pensioner lives 15 years and they receive £7500 over the 15 years. How much is a heat pump and will it work in flats, would the 7.5K cover it and all the other equipment?

So run me through your thinking, as of today we have pensioners sitting in their house freezing. Tell me the set-up that would be required to run the heating and all appliances during the dark cold winters. Keep in mind say 3K maximum cost.

I still do not see how this helps, these pensioners need the heating most likely gas powered. Electric heaters would require a massive battery, that Anker solix would run a heater for about 2 hours max, so scale that up you are looking at 40K plus. During the winter solar charging is poor.

What batteries are you using some AA Duracells ?We bought a Anker F3600 which would power a house for a maximum 8 hours and it cost us £3000 running low watt items. You do know the winter fuel payment can be as low as £200, so what will 5-6 WFA allowances buy you ?

Great, my 85 year old gran can hardly work her radio, let me tell her your great idea. Can you also give me an approximate cost to see if she can afford it. I think it should be ok as she has about £100 spare a month.
