During the year, I keep track of words that I look up when I am reading. After New Year's, I'm going to make a zine of all the words for from 2025.

So I've been reading The Ode Less Travelled by @stephenfry.bsky.social. I never gave poetry much time, but am enjoying learning about it from this approach. Unfortunately my oldest saw me reading it last night and deposited this stack of tomes for me to "explore" so now I have homework 😅

I'm reading this for some world building research. It was written in 1997. It's got tons of good stuff, but I cannot get over the fact that the author envisioned it as a practical manual. Turns out he also wrote "Handbook for Space Colonists" in 1985, so tracking that puppy down ❤️

My husband is an artist who makes orreries (clockwork planetary models) out of metal and glass. When I was struggling to finish my novel, he made me a deal: if I finished the book, he'd make me an orrery based on the world of my novel.
It's freaking BEAUTIFUL.

Getting very excited for my trip to Finland and Sweden in a couple of months! It will be my first time traveling outside of the United States, something I have dreamed of doing since elementary school.
