Also fits with the bigger picture that Trump thinks increased oil production will rescue the economy. Just insane and destructive on so many levels. It boggles the mind.

Seems obvious this will instead: (1) destabilize Venezuela and make it less attractive to foreign investment; and (2) drag the US into an occupation that will endanger US troops and foment terrorism in VZ, which will (3) ultimately travel back to the US.

Trump is trying to use military force to create political and economic conditions inside VZ that will persuade reluctant oil companies to invest in oil production and export there. Good luck with that!

Excited for this year. Mamdani, lead us out of this wilderness!

Maybe, “. . . in a politics of decorum. . . .”

Powerful and beautifully written. Thank you.

That the fat man
Was finished
The files had been real

That our broken
Nation would one day
Be healed

I saw the truth
In the look in the eye
Of a fake blonde AG
Whose every word
Was a lie.

I knew in my heart
I knew in my soul

As well as the blood
Knows the knife
Did I know

As well as the
Lone wolf
Knows the full moon

I knew that our
Sorrows would be
Over soon

“The files,” she said
“There are more
Than we knew”

“We thought
we were finished
But somehow
They grew”

And that
Dear reader
Is the moment
I knew

Then suddenly
Pamela Bondi appeared
Her hair died bone-white
Her eyes full of fear

Dressed in her black
Power pant-suit
Trying to look savvy
Trying to look cute

None of it worked
For as hard as she tried
It looked as if something
Inside her had died

No one explained
Why they hadn’t been found
By anyone at DOJ
Until now

And all of us wondered
What we would find
When we cut and pasted
There many black lines.

Every labor of love :-)

Great point. Sadly, I think it’s also part of the reactionary centrist grift. The point is to blame liberals for Republican policies, not inform the public about a problem, its actual causes, and a workable solution. (Mamdani is a political genius because he so effortlessly counters this tactic.)

Illustrates the damage this Administration has done to America’s reputation. Entirely lawful seizures are now reasonably presumed to be illegal acts of high seas piracy.

Exactly! Great insights. Wonderful song.
December 4, 2025 at 2:37 AM
It unlocks the song. Plus, I love “‘Boys of the NYPD’ choir” as a euphemism for a bunch of rowdy drunks rounded up by the cops. That’s great.
December 4, 2025 at 2:33 AM
And “Boys of the NYPD” choir could mean boys rounded up by the NYPD, not members of the force.

Thanks for this. It adds so much to the song.
December 4, 2025 at 2:23 AM
Which means it’s the other drunks singing, not an NYPD choir.
