Magnificent clay vessel discovered in 2022 in the only cremation grave of the Celtic necropolis in Creuzier-le-Neuf (Allier, France) The sword, found in a regular grave, was designed early 4th century BC.

Ah, the Roman mosaic of the peacocks in Pula. Imagine, dear reader, that the ancient Romans—between two massacres and three orgies—suddenly decided to have a go at interior design. And what did they choose? A pair of peacocks. On a platter. Because nothing says imperium sine fine like birds that look like drag queens attending a toga party. Now, picture the scene: a lavish Roman villa, somewhere between the forum and the vomitorium, where Senator Publius Maximus Overcompensatus strolls across the floor, wine in one hand, moral decay in the other. Beneath his sandals, this mosaic—a painstaking arrangement of colored tiles forming two birds so extravagantly feathered they make Liberace look like a minimalist monk. The peacocks themselves? Ah! Majestic creatures, symbols of immortality in Roman times, and surely the only animals to rival Nero for sheer narcissism. Their tails flare like fireworks at a patrician wedding, their necks curved in eternal disdain, as if to say, “Yes, we know we’re fabulous. Now go back to conquering Gaul.” And they perch—because of course they do—on either side of a vase, possibly containing the tears of Spartacus or just a decent Chianti, depending on which archaeologist you ask. The symmetry! The finesse! The sheer Romanesque je-m’en-foutisme of depicting divine birds in the foyer where some toga-clad teenager probably dropped his olives. So yes, this mosaic is more than just stone and pigment—it’s a cry from the past, a whispered ode to beauty, decadence, and the human need to impress guests. Even if it’s with birds who look like they’ve just stepped off the catwalk at Caesar’s Palace.

The discovery of an Early-Medieval Cult Site at Hezingen in Eastern Netherlands was prompted by metal-detected finds.
In such sites Diobolgeldae (Devil's money) was offered to pre-christian gods, likely to placate & thank them for good harvests.
