I have many hopes for the new year coming. The great thing about hope is that one never has to let it go in order to help someone else, or to accept help, to fight for yourself or for others, and my depressed butt is going to be holding pretty dang tight. I hope you do too <3

Jimmy Carter will be missed. Whatever you think of his presidency, he was a good man that put his whole self into making the world a better place. Also, if you are in or planning a trip to Atlanta, the Carter Center is easily accessible and worth the visit.

I'm not religious, but am largely of the belief that so long as your beliefs aren't hurting people, you do you. Also, that Christmas is a day for reflection, being with the people you love, and remembering the people you've loved and lost. I hope yours is a peaceful one, everyone. 💙

Even the overcast days are nice at the water. I went back through my nature photos and it turns out that no matter where I am, I gravitate to the water or the trees - often, both. They bring me such peace.

Love is: spending 3 hours on the phone with a friend talking about nothing in particular and forcing yourselves to get off the phone eventually in order to get something productive done so you both can feel like adults.

Trying to learn ASL (a parent is also learning, HoH). I see a point at which this is going to be hard to do without finding local classes/groups, and there are few options available here. I'm hearing - what's the experience like for parents of Deaf kids trying to find these resources?

You know what things I find sexy above all else? Knowledge, kindness, empathy, a willingness to learn, an ability to discuss disagreement rationally, and honesty. Someone can be conventionally attractive and still be the ugliest human without those qualities.
