As we know, "it's the economy stupid". Few will tolerate an attack on their standard of living in the hope of a future, promised land. Exporting workforce whilst simultaneously demanding expansion of manufacturing employment - for which foreign export markets are being razed daily - can't end well.

France made 2 key bets - on nuclear energy, and on military independence from the US. De Gaulle to thank for the latter, d'Estaing for the former. For it's size (& thankfully for Ukraine), France retains impressive aerospace capabilities: www.lefigaro.fr/sciences/la-... ariane.group/transport-sp...

Mastodon is German but essentially decentralised and self-hosted. It’s not as polished, but it’s a viable alternative to X. MistralAI may not be 100% as good as OpenAI but it’s 95% there. A US shutoff would be a massive opportunity for European tech.

The LFRA 2024 would, as written, ban marriage and hope value. This would in turn mean that loft or cellar spaces of use only as an extension to the adjacent flat would become free during freehold purchase. This clearly wasn’t the original intention of the Act. Measure twice, cut once.

Well if the building is a qualifying building under the BSA 2022, and the freeholder was the developer, and they built a death trap, and the leaseholder only has 3 flats or less. Then they may pay something 🙄. Pretty narrow definition of ‘shared’ though…

Combined with disastrous fire safety issues this has impacted on flat prices and sales volumes. Although Annington's interests run counter to those of the public, if their actions force drafting of secondary legislation to set valuation rates (and thus provide certainty) they will be welcome. /End

What's interesting is that the legal action in the High Court and ECHR seems to be targeted at forcing the Gov's hand into revealing valuation variables that the previous Gov sought to keep hidden.
There has now been 7 years of significant uncertainty in the leasehold market. 2/
