In the 7 years since, we've implemented Safe Access Zones, but there is still room to improve. Will it take another 7? How many more need to travel?

There is at least one GP in every county providing abortion care. This is not good enough. The service is so time sensitive, what happens if that one provider is off sick, or retires? It forces the person seeking the abortion to travel. This creates barriers where there shouldn't be any.

That's 1,680 women since 2019, according to the Exporting Abortion Project. The 28-day viability clause results in families being forced to travel because the chilling effect this has on medical staff here.

The medically unnecessary, mandatory 3 day waiting period must be removed. 12 week cut off point is too restrictive. Abortion is still criminalised. 240 people travel to the UK from Ireland every year to access care. That's 1,680 women since 2019, according to the Exporting Abortion Project.

7 years since abortion legislation was passed, we are still waiting for the medically unnecessary 3 day waiting period to be abolished. Eliminate the unworkable 12 week cut off point. Decriminalise abortion in all forms and remove the restrictive 28 day limit on fatal foetal anomalies.
