PATCO dealt with a far less busy and demanding airspace, with far fewer flights and less dependency upon a functioning air system. There's not enough military (who also aren't getting paid) to fill the hole if you start firing people.

I made a loaf with a tangzhong a couple weeks ago and I definitely want to do it again. It takes a lot of time but definitely worth it for a milk bread that really stays fresh for much longer.

Or perhaps, as it relates to my relatives I do a lot of silence is argument by other means and picking my battles and my dad would prefer I picked none, esp as a foreigner and being on tenterhooks. And I say that as an American Imma push. And the constant push and pull inside me of both.

I keep going to work and keep getting paid. My partner works and doesn't get paid. I've been in the other sets of shoes. It's not a good place to be.

I'm already gaming out whether I can renew my passport this year or if ATC is working. Or how to handle Xmas when I've never been shy w my opinions.

It's a friction to be kind and take with grace even from people not in DC but inside the Beltway. Or inside the adjoining counties. So beyond that I can't seem to do it.

My (Swedish) dad keeps checking in to see how the shutdown is affecting me and I can't lie but can't tell him all.

I don't know that I really benefitted that much from the Crucial Conversations class, the quiz on silence versus verbal violence was me thinking "yeah I used to default to that".

However I have some recommendations for people who should attend.

Is there any delay between pay period and payment? I used to know but that knowledge is long gone. On the civilian side there is and people are expecting a 70% ish check next week.
