even more interestingly enough is that i feel there is an extreme to this on the other end. like a bell curve. when all you think about is "this character is sooo attractive!!!" with nary a thought to their role in the story, etc. the analysis gets soooooo one-note, too

i say its a similar concept because i feel there is self insertion as well - a fictional character is not worth diving into if i, the audience, cannot imagine myself romantically with them on some level, even unconsciously. they're not "worth" thinking about

please please please read kagurabachi. i know it may look like "oh cool visuals but typical shounen whateverrr" but i swear the story and themes and writing come together with the visuals to make something so masterful and hard-hitting. i cannot recommend this manga enough

congratulations to id:invaded for being the only anime that has brilliant detective anaido. puts him up as the third greatest character of all time (because three is a good number)
