Every January I get the overwhelming desire to organize my house; and by “organize” I mean throw everything out.

A poem about art and wings.
The Icarus/Daedalus analogy here is a bit mixed, but you get the idea. (Or you don’t. Who am I to assume you’re into Greek mythological references?)

I’ve been wanting

I keep my dreams tepid
blame it on Icarus,
site safety and a concern
for the feelings of those
who love me,

but I’ve been dipping feathers
in melted wax
and calling it art,
calling it freedom,
hoping I learn to fly.
