I am incredibly happy that they are actually paying you more than like $15 and a free hot dog at the movie theater. (At least I hope DC is significantly better about that than Marvel.)

there are no words for how nostalgic the DC bullet being back is in the DC studios animated logo.

I still remember how excited I was like the one time one of my letters ended up in a letter col. and I loved that the letter columns always had awesome cheesy names and sometimes header art!

You're right, way too WASPy. I shall have to ponder this further!

It is SO very cringe now, and massively inappropriate. But at the time I had just found out that my drama teacher in high school had gone to college with John and had apparently been tuckerized in a comic strip he wrote in college as Pope John Paul George and Ringo.

I was like 14 years old when this came out. I was a huge Suicide Squad nerd. I lived in Chicago my whole childhood and I remember looking up John Ostrander's phone number in the white pages and leaving him and Kim Yale an INCREDIBLY NERDY answerphone message when I was that age.

Metropolis is missing an o! I have that issue and I never noticed but I also probably haven't read it since it came out. I always pictured Harry as played by Robert Culp. Also it was so huge when we found out about Checkmate and Task Force X. HUGE.

Also Vigilante being employed by Checkmate--just not the way you think is *chef's kiss*. and I am never going to get over Judomaster wearing the costume 24/7.

God bless Tom of Finland

I can't believe nobody commented on glitter being craft herpes...

I can't remember if that was during Action Comics Weekly or regular Action Comics, which is a sentence that possibly only Gen X can understand.

I'm just saying, I really hope Chris is prepared to come back and discover that Eagly has shacked up with Economos. also, that was a sweet intro for Checkmate. as soon as Ads told Kee I was like oh shit Oh shit IT'S COMING!

I love Callahan's! *raises glass*

I was so confused when I found out that they were like created for Bible study for little kids

It's like I'm only face blind when it comes to insanely stunningly attractive human beings apparently?

Pretty sure. The only people I cannot tell apart are Charlie Hunnan & Travis Fimmel, and Rodrigo Santoro & Juan Diego Boto (born on the same day albeit 2000 miles apart in Argentina and Venezuela). There was also a brief period where every time I saw Samara Weaving, I thought she was Margot Robbie.

I'm pretty sure circa like 2001 I was at a CD release party at a bar in Los Angeles and I went outside to have a smoke and someone who may or may not have been Timothy Olyphant offered me a light.

I am intensely frustrated with Instagram and so I am attempting to clean up my flickr account, except every image on my phone at any point in the last 5 years has been backed up to my Flickr automatically and it's really depressing. really really depressing.

autocorrect buggered the name It's Noctis Magicae series by Sylvia Izzo Hunter. Also from Jabberwocky.
fringe-element.net
Is Spinning Silver outside your parameters? Obviously there's also Noctis Magical as alternative history, however if you're looking for the Big 5 instead of indie, Alchemical Journeys series by Seanan McGuire? although those came out in hardcover before trade...

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

They do a dispatch every day, follow-up on the kidnapped people (which almost no media outlet has done), and fact-check government claims.

@lataco.bsky.social first began as a blog documenting local Mexican cuisine. Now, it’s an essential reporting powerhouse to the city as Trump’s mass deportation plot unfolds.
