You'd be correct! I remember paying far too much for a copy before the remaster.

My assumption is scarcity. TTYD was a game in high demand with plenty of copies available. Fire Emblem didn't sell super well, iirc, so it might not dip as much (I'd be happy to be wrong).

It usually renews interest in the game -- in the years I've been collecting, rare / sought after games will stay expensive. So the best that people can hope for is that prices don't increase. 😅

Unfortunately, this tends to have the opposite effect on the price of the original.
