But it is a very cool town and the Warrumbungles are very close by and lovely.

Coonabarabran. Even in the car it is a hike.

The only public transport is a bus from Lithgow or I guess a train to Gunnedah and hope someone will drive you the last 100km

It is! If it helps with the economics, I have bedrooms galore and you would be welcome to stay in one!

But if you aren't driving it is a long bus ride!
