Feels like it was staffed with a lot of authoritarians from its inception. Given the roots of the organization being a big reaction to 9/11.

He has definitely aged into a good brand of curmudgeon. I’m glad the reporters let him say what he thought.

….parts of the broader Twin Cities metropolitan area or transportation corridors leading to it are frequently included in enforcement maps because agents have authority on any vehicle "within a reasonable distance" of a boundary.

I disagree with the logic. But that’s what they claim.

This was the closest info I could find: The 100-Mile Radius: While the center of Minneapolis is technically just outside the 100-air-mile radius from the nearest point of the Lake Superior maritime border (which is about 130+ miles away),

I never bought that BS reasoning either though.

When we lived in upstate NY, they’d set up border search checkpoints on the highway 80 or so miles south of the Canadian border.

And the fact that the spots they chose were well known, defeated any real advantage to doing it.

Being a Michigan resident: I’ve been told that the entirety of the state is considered to be within that 100 mile radius, due to the Great Lakes being considered international waterways (?) or something like that. MSP area would fall into that as well probably, same reasoning.

I used to love winter. But I can tell I’m becoming an Old, because I wish it would go away already.

I’ve got sunny and warm things I’d like to do please.

I agree! I’m trying to satay away from as much AI as possible.
