RTO did in fact have a negative impact on employee motivation. It's sad to see a good employee feeling unappreciated.

I'm finding "AI" has proven itself inefficient. These algorithms are failing at a simplistic level. I'm less worried about AI being used to replace writers. Google AI has surprised me with its inaccuracies. Even more so when the AI lists references that counter its own statements.

What should junior author's do when there is an obstacle? If you spend a few hours and are not making any progress, ask your lead. I prefer to spend an hour getting you on the right track, then see you spend days looking in all the wrong places. My job is to help you do the best you can.

My current role has me creating/editing/reviewing procedures for hundreds of components. The immense variety results in me working on new projects with little to no knowledge about them. I love the challenge of becoming an expert on something I've never worked on before.

I've been using Computer Aided Three-Dimensional Interactive Application (CATIA) for more than 9 years. CATIA has had a huge impact on my authoring. I can load a complex 3D model and manipulate parts to become extremely familiar with products. Great for collaborating on simple and complex systems.

The ability to research properly is a must for a technical writer. The biggest issue I've seen is projects coming to a halt due to someone being unable to do just that. A project can fall weeks behind because someone failed to find something that can be found in a short research session.

I'm concerned RTO will decrease motivation and productivity. Already there is talks of long time employees leaving for other work. Many feel betrayed since recent announcement had declared no possibility of RTO. It'll be difficult to expext high effort and quality from employees who plan to leave.
