I believe that Mike/Plinkett is almost entirely off-base with his analysis of those movies

In my own views: Andor kind of /is/ the better (or enhancement to) Rogue One, or maybe ”better” prequels in the sense that it has similar aims.

I would personally prefer totally new stories but I understand that the motives behind any future movies include profit and “safety,” hence my cynicism

I’m speaking to my own opinions. I would say I’m an extremely passionate and somewhat knowledgeable starwars fan who’s also extremely skeptical of corporate control over it (”white slavers,” so to speak).

People will enjoy what they enjoy :) I enjoyed Force Awakens back when it first came out.

I suppose “singular continuity” has something to do with it. Like, Star Wars has “Visions” for “alt universe” stories but they’re stuck with everything else.

I didn’t really say anything about those other brands though? Idk. The line between enjoyment and toxic positivity is thin, I suppose.

Eh, I see what you’re saying, ik Disney isn’t going to give up on their 4bil investment, and I don’t particularly agree with the average Star Wars fan (my second favorite Disney project after Andor is “The Acolyte”)

But like, I really have no faith Disney can produce anything I’d like with the IP

though, to be fair: not only does that movie look like ass, but the entire comment section on the trailer seems to agree with that assessment.

I think that Andor has officially soured everyone on The Usual Slop

however my preference is for what happens in the book: the hobbits (and maybe we the readers also) *assume* the ents are clueless or stubbornly pacifistic when they are, in fact, merely slow to anger. Because once that anger gets rolling…

I do not like how the ents are written.

Honestly I think it was a good *filmmaking* decision (to make them kinda stupid and therefore pass some agency for their big decision onto Pippin, who is a more central character)…
