I have a Catholic friend who says exactly the same things about the Evil Un-American Religion Of Islam that would have been said about her in the past. I've pointed this out but unsurprisingly it didn't help.

The logical extension of "education is a moral good" is students occasionally having to take a class they hate.
The logical extension of "school is a pipeline to industry" is kids spending four years watching Amazon training videos before being sent into the fulfillment mines.
I know which I prefer.

I don't think the Felon of the United States plays at that level. He lies because he can't admit mistakes, ever. And probably because after a life surrounded by sycophants, he's used to everyone saying "Wow, that's absolutely right, yes sir!"

W's mob mouthpiece, John Yoo, asserted at one point that courts because of all those stupid procedures and rights of the accused might not get it right or do it fast — we should put our faith in the president's judgment.

I had similar thoughts some years back when I kept reading urban fantasy where someone quips "Wow, the bad guy read the evil overlord handbook!" It didn't feel real — and besides, shouldn't most of their enemies be avoiding those evil overlord mistakes?
