I'm a husband, father of 4 & grandfather of 7. I've been a Reader in the CofE since 2007. My working life was I.T. I'm now mostly retired.
Between the road and the path in #MillMeadows, behind the barbed wire fence, behind the brambles, the first sign of spring - the snowdrops - are in full bloom. #TodaysWalk

It's never good to see rubbish dumped in #MillMeadows. An old mower is a bit much though. #TodaysWalk

It's been a while since I was last able to get down this hill. So the dead hedge was new to me. The path it blocks goes to a large oak tree them fizzles out. I have no idea why it needs protecting. #TodaysWalk #MillMeadows

Don't be fooled, the catkins are starting to grow, but winter's not over yet. It's 5°C in #MillMeadows. There's plenty of time left for a cold snap. #TodaysWalk

On a cold, still, quiet and frosty afternoon, I went looking for the new steps in #MillMeadows. I found the moon above the trees first, and then later the new steps. They are great, as there is an overgrown diversion for those who can't walk up, or down easily. #TodaysWalk

The Silver Birch keeps growing if there is sufficient light - regardless of the season. The new LED street lights are affecting nature in ways we didn't predict #TodaysWalk

Hanningfield Reservoir looking very low, so we still haven't caught up after the dry summer. #TodaysWalk #Hanningfield_Reservoir

Of the 4 or 5 large spreading oaks at the top of Mill Meadows, this one is furthest along to losing its leaves, by a long way. #TodaysWalk #MillMeadows

A Canada Goose enjoying a chunk of white bread. Someone had given them a loaf, which they had torn up fighting over it. Below: bushes displaying bright autum colours. #LakeMeadows #TodaysWalk

My attention was drawn to this tree covered in these pretty designs, in #MillMeadows. The lady was appreciative of them, as were her small children. On reflection, though, I'm not sure a tree trunk is a proper canvas. #TodaysWalk

Autumn is underway, and some of its fruitfullness has appeared in abundance. Crops from trees and bushes have been high, so it was no surprise to see these lovely rose hips on #TodaysWalk in #MillMeadows.

A poplar, possibly, reaching for the clouds. #TodaysWalk #MillMeadows

A type of woodland agaric growing all alone in the bed of a previously dry stream. I did not look underneath to identify the exact type for fear of disturbing it. #TodaysWalk #MillMeadows

#TodaysWalk #MillMeadows orange coloured fruits in a tree. Judging by the squashed ones on the ground they are plumbs, but I could be wrong.

The first crop of the sesson. Unlike recent shop bought radishes, this had a real kick. Picked at 11:30, eaten at 12:30. #MyGarden

There are 2 new water troughs in #MillMeadows. This one was shining in the bright sun, which is odd because the photo is taken looking into the sun. They are both empty; I tried to follow the pipe, but lost it as I approached Southend Road. #TodaysWalk

On the coldest night and day of the winter so far, the snowdrops bring some hope that spring is coming. #MyGarden It's a frost day today.

There is a small (artificial?) pond on #LaindonCommon that today seems to have a lot of something dumped in it. This may be planned & legitimate, or it may not. I do not know, but i will ask the conservator when i see him next. #TodaysWalk

A fox hunting for food in #myGarden today. It was extremely cautious, sniffing below the bird table for a few minutes and then trotting off through the gap at the back of the garden. I don't think it was the healthiest of foxes, as much of its tail fur was missing.

Just a few patches of frost remain after the coldest night of the year so far. It's a bright sunny morning for #TodaysWalk around #LaindonCommon. Many places in the UK have snow, but there is none here.

A small bush seed has germinated and taken root in this cherry tree. It can only grow when the cherry tree grows, and is now losing its leaves just as the cherry tree is. #TodaysWalk

There is still food in the hedgerows, not for us, because I don't know what they are, but something will recognise and eat them i'm sure. #TodaysWalk #LaindonCommon
