Combining holidays and work! Deployment of microclimatic sensors network in Haute-Tarentaise (French Alps). Inside different mountain forests from 1000 to 1900m ⛰️. Yesterday 33°C at 12am and 1850m what about under forest cover? Results in 1 year.

The @ramsarconv.bsky.social site “Tourbières et marais de la vallée de la Somme et de l'Avre” is one of the largest alkaline fen in Western Europe (>13,000 ha). Today, woodlands cover 38% of this area, compared to only 1.7% in 1830. This is a true wooded revolution: +2,200% in nearly 200 years.

150 plots are being installed across various types of woodlands found in the wetland and peatland areas of the Somme Valley and its tributaries.
Each plot is equipped with a microclimatic sensor and will be subject to dendrometric and floristic surveys (vascular plants and bryophytes).

For the past three weeks, researchers from #UMR_EDYSAN installing plots for the #MicroB²Som project. This project aims to study microclimates 🌡️, GHG emissions, and the biodiversity of woodlands🌳 on peat soils💧 within #RAMSAR site of the Somme and Avre valleys. Supported by Département de la Somme

"Show me your sensor and I'll tell you who you are! "
In our studies on #microclimate we often wonder about the best technical solution.
It's hard to make a choice... 🤔
Here some systems used or which will be evaluated.
Don't hesitate to follow our past and future studies!
