I wish all these trans making emotionless doll stories could have played more happily. A doll is a young girl's friend who she can make up stories about, and who gets married to and divorced from other dolls. not an emotionless cold vessel... this is the trauma, again, isn't it.

i think young ppl who've grown up in the decades since where the kind of character and iconography represented by frank n furter is now just kind of the most commonplace mass media imagery of transfemininity are mostly just bored & unmoved by it. not really subversive to straightness even anymore
This tracks, as a lot of the writing/reviews on it I've read have been very "you young people just don't understand" in tone.

my hot take is rocky horror isnt even camp in 2025 (in sontag's sense anyway)—its too mainstream and "not marginal enough," too familiar to have secret insider meanings, too mundane to be shocking, too sincere in its gender attachments to be truly extravagant, and too sacred to be anti-serious 🤷🏻♀️
