I am a European, northern born.
Weird that adults have destroyed the environment, economy, politics, and all they seem to care about is stopping kids watching YouTube.

I don't think this is new. Lots of people knew about Jimmy Saville and Rolf Harris in the 90s.

Argh, sorry. Am being dim. Mis-read it as you saying they weren't for sale in the UK. I feel your pain, I love them too...

Or for Brexit...

Totally agree. I have a 15 and 13 year old, they're massively politically engaged and we often discuss what they see on tiktok. In the UK they'll be voting at 16. Insane to (try to) ban them from one of the main sources of info.

Well! I remember very clearly they knew it'd be economically damaging but that being poorer was a price worth paying to be 'free'. Has this now changed?

Ah, 'the country' is old people, young people don't count.

When Bellingham came on in one of the recent games he was transformative, best player on the pitch by a mile. Didn't get a single mention in the post match analysis. And I've woken up today to the Guardian saying Declan Rice is Europe's best midfielder! Declan Rice!!

Hahaha, sorry. Some of my best friends etc. Better to say he'd have been happiest as a Victorian clergyman obsessively counting earthworms in his Hampshire garden.

Personally, AH is a super-nerd. Shy, a listener. No social skills, no sense of humour, no small talk. On the spectrum. Would drop into the pub when everyone was necking pints and have a g&t, totally out of place. Not unpleasant at all. Just an alien. Should have been an obsessive academic.

There is a whole gang of these people, total idiots, floating about in think tanks and oxford tory circles, they'd just turn up in the newsroom and suddenly be dep ed, or 'publisher' or something, with zero experience. Very easy to get on if you're willing to say the right things. The tory ecosystem.

In 2008, AH was absolutely 'let all the banks fail', i just thought it was a psychological desire for chaos. Also taking deliberately wild positions that he must have known were practically impossible, so he could roll his eyes at everyone else and pretend to be some sort of illuminati.

With that lot, its daddy issues all the way down.

I worked with him! Incredible experience. Personable but nuts. I refused to publish his loopy mates' columns. Came back from holiday to find he'd just hired one of them full time, and given her freedom to write whatever she wanted with no editorial oversight! (She's followed him everywhere).

Very odd! When I've been to NYC people didn't understand my accent, I ended up speaking Spanish instead of English! In California people called us 'european', not British. Overall i think the US is more like a LaAm country that happens to speak English.

My 75-year-old in laws, both graduates, learned about British involvement in slavery when they watched David Olusoga's documentary this week. (They only watched because they'd seen him on Traitors.)

(Also I was born in West Germany, which no longer even exists. Where does she think I am actually from?)

I'm the most English bloke you'll ever meet. White, northern, family tree traces ancestors in a Cumbrian dale back to 1600s. But nobody knows who my grandad was. Am I suspect? (Also my wife has Welsh ancestry. Are my kids English?) it's all just embarrassing bollocks.

American friend who lives in Madrid once pointed out that the right wing party there (the PP, all about religion, tradition, family values etc) would get called communists in the US.

I once heard someone, who was definitely English, order two 'espressi' in Costa.
