just the other day i was saying they could put the original PS2 version up on Steam with no modifications and it'd still hold up fine, such a gorgeous game...... art direction saves lives!!!!

terms of "clunkiness" and "jank" etc. are also used to broadly dismiss anything that doesn't control the same way as something else/expects players to learn, which similarly does not really happen in other mediums. usually we call this "creative voice" and it is celebrated (literature, music, etc.)
