Criterion has most of carpenter's movies right now so I'm rewatching escape from ny again. I still clearly remember my mind reeling at the box art in the rental shop as a kid, how I HAD to see this. Still one of the coolest posters ever

oh man.. Magnolia is closest to my heart of all his films. it's big and messy and overly earnest but just strikes something deep in me. watched a couple days after my dad died in 2020 and the scenes with Earl just destroyed me in a good way
