I still have no idea how this works.

Gonna make the rare post about crafts with maybe some woodworking and video games thrown in and see what happens.

And screaming into the void. Everyone needs a bit of that from time to time. For the soul.
It really feels like we are watching the real time break down of law and order. Government officials basically saying "might makes right" and "law enforcement" acting accordingly. Terrifying to consider where that road leads.

I remember hearing years ago that smaller oil companies in the US that use fracking or other difficult processes can't survive under like $60 a barrel. I wonder if flooding the market with Venz. oil is gonna lead to bankruptcy and job loss in some of the highest paying blue collar jobs here?

There's a special place in hell for people that use silicone or other non paintable caulking for indoor trim.

The number of major news outlets that run headlines just repeating what the government says, when that government is shown over and over to just outright lie and massively distort things is just a massive embarrassment. The state of US media is astounding. Google news is almost useless at this point

Question I can't answer. Problem with democracy itself (I'm pro democracy for the record). What do you do if the populace wants violent authoritarians, or is indifferent to it?

Say we throw out the current regime, hold new elections, and the voters pick a group just as bad? Then what?

Trump calling for banning stock buybacks and dividends and limiting CEO compensation? Seems awful socialist to me. If Obama or Biden tried this wouldn't the right be screaming bloody murder?

Just a shame it's about the defense industry and building more weapons and not about helping Americans.

It boggles my mind that people seem to legitimately think the Maduro kidnapping and the Osama Bin Laden assassination are basically the same thing.

Growing up Norm always had the most tricked out shop. Now going back and watching the first season of New Yankee Workshop on youtube, seeing him using a fucking shopsmith is crazy.

Should this get Trump removed from office? Probably. But being credibly accused of child rape didn't. 34 counts of felony fraud wasn't disqualifying. Trying to overturn an election wasn't. Taking classified docs and obstructing their return wasn't. I'm skeptical this will.

The idea that an indictment in the US gives authority to bomb and kidnap anywhere in the world is insane.

It’s not about drugs. If it was, Trump wouldn’t have pardoned one of the largest narco traffickers in the world last month.

It’s about oil and regime change.

And they need a trial now to pretend that it isn’t. Especially to distract from his sinking under Epstein and skyrocketing healthcare costs.

Peace prize my ass

Is this invasion and overthrow actually what the oil industry bought when Trump asked for $1 billion?

Forgot to post this. Finished up the sewing box. Couple trays to go in the keyed mitered box. This project was a massive pain in the ass. Turns out bradford pear is also a shitty tree as lumber. At least when thin and fiddly.

First of several glue ups for the top of a new #woodworking workbench. Trying to get back to more woodworking and unplug a bit from the horror shows surrounding us.

So many thoughts. Fuck Trump and this attack and kidnapping. I hope things work out well for the Venezuelan people. Given the history of US intervention in Latin and South America I'm skeptical. And all so some fuckers can get rich off oil and continue to boil the planet. Just a sad, angry day.

The pardons at the end of this presidency could be wild. Particularly with how fast people go in and out of favor with Trump, or whoever is running the show then. Could be crazy if he kicks it and Vance takes over too.

Is this not the likely outcome of this Epstein files saga? Now if someone sues the DOJ can stop everything and then it'll get bogged down in the court for a few years and Trump gets to run out the clock.

Conveniently the house is out of town when the administration decides it's just not going to follow the law. Funny how that works. Party of law and order everyone.

So is seizing an oil tanker for no apparent reason considered an act of war? Sure seems like the sort of thing that would start a conflict. Weren't we bombing Yemen for doing something similar not too long ago?

I hate how I spend all day at work thinking about what I would rather be doing and what I want to do when I get home, but once I get home I have neither the physical or mental bandwidth for any of it and end up not doing anything.

First Bessent, now whoever this is. They're just saying it now.
Rep. Salazar on Venezuela: "We're about to go in ... we need to go in ... Venezuela for the American oil companies will be a field day"

It really is disgusting that Trump can insult, berate, single out, threaten, and demean female reporters on a daily basis for asking fair and legitimate questions and you can’t find a single Republican woman in Congress to say it is inappropriate behavior.

There has never been a clearer example of the fact that we do not have a legislature in the United States right now. Trump tells them to vote no, so they all vote no. Then Trump changes his mind and they all change their votes. That is autocracy. Vote them out!

Getting real tired of not having a vise on my bench. Put together this makeshift one. Looking forward to starting the new bench build and getting a real vise.
