Whether a war on corn syrup would hurt farmers more than help consumers is not settled. Farm subsidies flow to Big Corn, parent of ethanol, which takes more energy to produce than it saves and harms gas engines. High-fructose corn syrup is, however, one of the main food groups for Trump voters.
