Naive maybe, but nothing outrageous. We privilege private ownership so much in this country that younger generations can barely own anything. It'd be refreshing to think more about the common good.

My lovely district has so much to be proud of. Producing real ones like...er...Charles Taylor, Mark Meadows, Madison Cawthorn, and now Chuck Edwards. Oh and Heath Shuler for a nice little blue dog interregnum.

I do wonder if the suppression of a distinctive German national feeling in favor of a more European one contributed to this. So much intellectual and cultural energy was devoted to reconciling with its past evils, which was important but not eye-catching.

Probably someone clearing out their home and/or moving. Household deity images can't go in the trash but must be relocated respectfully. That's why these little altars spring up.

For me, it's more a moral question than a public sentiment question. Gambling will always exist, but it shouldn't be so pervasive. I feel like it's everywhere now.

Neither BS nor Twitter are good representations of the American people. Most here and there are either clout-chasing "idea" people or troubled folk who refuse to seek professional therapy. It's hard to quit a drug.

Methodists do as well last time I checked, but we don't mean the Catholic denomination specifically. It's more appropriately the "universal" Church.
