Sadly I didn’t share Ste’s enthusiasm about starting ‘big school’ after seeing Grange Hill. It was around the time Mauler McCaul and his American Football gang were the bullies, so I was convinced I was going to get my head kicked in by some big fat kid with an American Football helmet on.

So all this time Winkleman has based her entire look on the minions of the ancient and all-powerful Dæmon Azal? Bloody hell, that is niche.

Listened today. Had no idea Matthew Corbett was in the Doctor Who ‘The Dæmons’ episodes. Only watched it a few weeks ago! I guess it was hard to tell under that mask and hooded cloak! 😁

Oh, and I went to Blackgang Chine in the mid to late 80s with the Cub Scouts! Again, I have virtually no memory of it - just the excitement of getting away from camp for one day to go to a theme park! 😁

I distinctly remember ITV promos for Chimera at the time - but weirdly have no memory of watching it, even though I must’ve!

Fingers crossed, but there’s a chance it’s probably lost after several house moves, or the flood in one of my childhood homes back on the early 90s that claimed a lot of my childhood toys! Won’t know unless I look though!

Great video Steve. As a kid I had a soft toy of the Corona Fizzical Bubble! I might even still have it in a toy box somewhere! Sadly I can’t find an image of it anywhere online. Must’ve been a limited promotional thing.

Kids there looking absolutely fascinated and terrified in equal measure. 😁 It’s amazing thinking back then that it was 2hrs of live TV every Saturday working with kids, pop bands playing live, talking to ghost hunters, all while staying in character. No.73 was bonkers!

There were some great card collections back in the day. PG Tips seems an odd choice, but perfect for kids if you think of it as parents would get you more cards without even realising! 😉

Definitely eBay to rescue in my case too. Tbh, I was amazed at how cheap they were - and in pristine condition. Maybe I got lucky! And some of those pictures still scare the crap out of me. 😁

Haven’t had one for years now. As good as it tasted, it was always a problem to eat on a hot summers day… that nutty chocolate shell would crack off in all directions, falling onto your clothes, ground, or both! 😬

In the early 80s my faves were Funny Feet, Mini Milk or Fab! My eyes were always drawn to the Dracula lolly, but I can’t remember a single time when the ice-cream van had them to sell… false advertising I tells ya! 🧛 By the late 80s, the Feast choc ice cream/lolly was all the rage - loved that too!

I’ll have to go looking again in that badge collection to see what other 70/80s nostalgia goodies are there!

Gotta love an old toy box find - that big hit of nostalgia taking you back 40 years in an instant! 👌

@sophiealdred.bsky.social has an incredible voice for stories - she could read the yellow pages (is that still a thing?) and it would probably sound like an adventure. ❤️ Great episode!

Don’t mind at all Steve, go for it. And yeah, they’re not going anywhere! Sold/lost a lot of my stuff in the 90s, but have held on to everything since - my hobby since lockdown is collecting 70/80s vintage, so bit by bit I’m buying it all back! 😁
