@dlgladwin.bsky.social, clearing out cupboards at work today, has dug up this, featuring the first story I had published as a working adult. ('Brockley Hill', for a GQMagazine/LandRover Short Story Competition years ago.) Copies were originally placed in boutique Salon House hotel rooms.

I adore this film, has so much heart.
Watched now, hard not to parallel see it working as a story of neurodiversity and learning to mask. Karen Allen, meanwhile, here and in 'Raiders...', a highpoint of early '80s Hollywood: in another, more actress-valuing era, she'd have been a legendary star.

Very interesting Q&A. Re formal & structural games, I felt - especially with TPOMI - that you've pulled off the play & experimentalism that BS Johnson was doing but, unlike him - maybe because of your 'slightly vulgar populist streak' 😉 - have succeeded in selling that (and your books) to readers.
